Departing from York, we'll drive to Helmsley, a charming market town renowned for its vibrant independant shops, inviting cafes and rich history. You'll have time to explore the town, having a bite to eat or to simply enjoy the quaint atmosphere.
Your tour will leave Helmsley and shortly you will start to ascend higher into the North York Moors National Park. Your guide will explain the region's place in Yorkshire's incredible history, including burial mounds, farming, mining and the industrial revolution and much more.
Venturing through the picturesque Yorkshire Moors, you'll take the Cockayne Loop, a scenic single-lane route from Helmsley through to the hamlet of Cockayne towards Kirkbymoorside.This quiet, winding road offers stunning views, peaceful lanes, and a real sense of moorland isolation, perfect for a leisurely drive and photography opportunities.
We'll then Pause in the ancient hamlet of Cockayne, home to a historic church with fantastic views down the valley. This is a tranquil spot to stretch your legs, soak up the scenery, and appreciate the timeless charm of the North York Moors.
Your tour will depart back to York, bringing you through the landscape of rolling heather-clad hills, quiet woodland, farms and winding streams.
