North York Moors & Whitby Tour
Explore the famous area of the North York Moors National Park. Famed for the largest area of heather Moorland in England, there is much more than meets the eye.
The Moors are one of the most important historical areas in Britain in terms of religion, farming, mining, fishing and smuggling. It has more ancient scheduled monuments than anywhere in the country including, standing stones, stone crosses and burial mounds.
Explore historic towns, quaint villages and historic sites such as Whitby Abbey. Enjoy unrivalled views along the Yorkshire coast and for miles across the Yorkshire.

Arrive in York and be transfered to your chose accommodation in comfort and style, where you can get to grips with your surrounding and explore the local area.
Your full day tour will begin from your accommodation where you will join our North York Moors & Whitby Tour, the most popular Mountain Goat York tour.
Leaving York we make our way to the charming town of Pickering, known as the ‘Gateway to the Moors’ and the southern terminus of the North York Moors Railway. There will be a chance to explore the station and see this picturesque market town. You can enjoy a hot brew and home made pastries, discover the historic Church and its medieval wall painting and explore the beautiful town.
We then head off the ‘Beaten Track’ into the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, there will be plenty of chances throughout your day to capture memorable photos.
After travelling over our first taste of the moorland we arrive in Goathland, a classic moorland village famed as the setting for the sixties themed police drama Heartbeat. You will also have opportunity to see Goathland Station, which was turned into ‘Hogsmeade’ for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The shop on the platform was transformed into the “Prefect’s Room” and the Ladies toilets became the “Wizard’s Room”.
We arrive in Whitby for lunch, a traditional seaside town, where there is a wide choice of places to eat – with fish and chips being the local favourite. There are a number of things to see and do such as visiting the dramatic ruins of Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for the novel ‘ Dracula’ or even taking a stroll along the harbour with its quaint shops.
We drive through more classic moorland landscape as we make our way through Egton and Egton Bridge, and then down the famous 33% Gradient on Limber Hill. Our journey takes us onto Glaisdale, this peaceful village is home to Beggers Bridge, a 17th century bridge with a romantic story behind it.
We get onto the heart of the Moors in the afternoon. On leaving Glaisdale we head to the high Moors, to enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views for miles, stopping at the famous landmark of Ralph’s Cross.
As we make our way out of the National Park we stop at the market town of Helmsley, you will have time to explore a bustling market square, the dramatic castle ruins, the charming tea rooms or the inviting inns. If you were asked to imagine the perfect English market town, then it'd probably look a lot like Helmsley.
Leaving Helmsley we start making our way back towards York whilst enjoying the views over the Vale of York. Sit back and enjoy more scenic Yorkshire countryside as your memorable tour draws to a close.
On your final morning you will be transfered to the station to continue your journey or head home.
Bring everything you could possibly need for a 2-night stay in the York, we recommend some sturdy shoes or boots and a light rain jacket.

Your luggage will be safely stowed on board your trasfer vehicle and left wth you at your chosen accomodation.
