You travel over Kirkstone pass, through beautiful valleys, see wonderful scenery and traditional Lakeland villages. Spend time visiting the imposing castle ruins, its gardens, cafe and shop, home to the Earls of Lonsdale in medieval times.

Luggage on board

There is space on-board for hand luggage and there is a large boot for extra luggage - if you have anymore please let us know.

Lunch is not included within the tour price however there is a fantastic cafe at Lowther Castle, for lunch menus please contact our office.
 

Cancellation Policy

To confirm a booking we require the full amount at time of booking. You may cancel 72 hours prior to departure and recieve a full refund. After 72 hours no refund will be issued.

The tour includes entry to Lowther Castle & Gardens, a visit to the 4,000-year-old Castlerigg Stone Circle, set high on the fells and plenty of time for photos along route.

Depart South Lakes & travel over Kirkstone Pass, the Lake District's highest pass at 1,489 feet. Enjoy spectacular views from the top towards Lake Windermere, England's largest lake. 

As you descendent Kirkstone Pass you will travel past Brotherwater, Glenridding & then past Ullswater, England's 2nd largest Lake. Take in the views of Ullswater & it's surrounding fells before traveling to Lowther Castle

Built at the turn of the 19th century, Lowther Castle has a spectacular history. Your group will be guided into the Courtyard for a 10-minute scene-setter. A member of the Lowther team will give a brief introductory talk on this magnificent Castle’s colourful life, which has been the home of the Lowther family for 850 years.   

The group can then enter the highly visual Story of Lowther Exhibition, which leads to the Castle and ancient Gardens. The tour Includes entry to the Exhibition & Gardens & everyone will receive a map of the gardens.

After spending the afternoon at leisure, you will depart Lowther Castle & head towards Keswick. You will stop at Castlerigg Stone Circle, a 4000-year old circle, one of the most famous and most visited stone circles in the country. From within the circle, you will get picture-perfect views of some of the Lake District’s highest peaks. Depart Keswick towards the Southern Lake District past Thirlmere Reservior to Grasmere, famed for William Wordsworth & Sarah Nelson Gingerbread. 

After a packed day you will be dropped off at your starting location to enjoy the rest of your day.
