The Mountain Goat Team is incredibly proud to announce our support for the annual Climb of Life challenge, which recently culminated in a phenomenal, record-breaking fundraising total!

Conquering the Peaks for a Vital Cause

The 38th annual mountain trek took place on Friday, November 14, 2025, bringing together 116 brave volunteers and supporters to tackle some of the Lake District's toughest peaks. Starting from the base camp at the Swan in Grasmere, the climbers faced storm-force winds and extreme cold to complete their mission.

We were delighted to help ease the logistics for one group by providing a Minibus and Drivers to transport them. Our team took the group from the Swan in Grasmere to Whinlatter, where they completed a challenging ascent through the forest to Lords View and then Banf before descending to the Whinlatter Visitor Centre—and we were there to bring them safely back!

A Record Year for Research Funding

This year's effort was nothing short of spectacular, raising an astounding £103,215! This brings the grand total raised over the Climb of Life's 38-year history to an incredible £2,142,416. Every penny goes directly to supporting the life-changing work of the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).

The Human Impact of ICR's Work

With one in three of us being touched by cancer in our lifetime, the work of the ICR is absolutely vital. The Institute of Cancer Research is a charitable academic body with over 300 dedicated scientists, and has taken more drugs into clinical trials in the last decade than any other organisation worldwide. You can learn more about their mission here: https://www.icr.ac.uk/

The true importance of this research was highlighted by Dr. Rob van Montfort, a representative of the ICR. Dr. van Montfort spoke movingly about how his perspective on his work changed dramatically following his wife, Sonja's, breast cancer diagnosis (from which she has since been successfully treated). He passionately emphasised the importance of developing drugs that are as gentle in their effects as possible, while still being aggressively positive in the treatment of targeted cancers.

The Mountain Goat Team sends a massive congratulations to all the climbers and volunteers for their dedication and incredible fundraising success!
