Ice rink made possible by £5,000 donation from Lakes Hospitality Association, organisers confirm

Mountain Goat are excited to announce the organisers of Windermere Christmas Celebration have confirmed an ice-skating rink for this year’s event.

One of the sponsors, the Lakes Hospitality Association, has donated £5,000 to the event in order to make the coming celebration one to remember.

It will be the first time an ice-skating rink has been present at the event since it was started in 2016 and those involved in the planning have voiced their excitement.

Councillor Ben Berry, Chairman of Windermere Christmas Celebration, said: “I’m very happy to announce our plans to have an ice rink at this year’s Christmas Celebration.

“After our successes over previous years our plan is to make this year’s the biggest and best yet.

We would like to thank the Lakes Hospitality Association for their generosity and hope the residents and visitors are as excited about this news as we are.”

The Windermere Christmas Celebration, now in its fourth year, will see around 60 stalls and stands spring up around the centre of the village.

Organised by staff from Windermere Information Centre, Mountain Goat Tours and Cllr Berry the markets cover Victoria Street, Cross Street and High Street with Christmas themed decorations and activities.

The organisers are planning to extend the markets onto crescent road this year.

The ice rink itself will open on Friday December 13 before the markets open the morning after.

There will be plenty of interactive, family friendly activities for adults and children of all ages.

The Christmas Celebration has been supported by many local businesses and organisations.

Windermere Town Council has donated £3,000 and other sponsors include Windermere Lake Cruises, Lamplighter Dining Rooms, McClures, Booths and Lakes Cottage Holidays.
