Duncan was born on the outskirts of the great northern industrial city of Manchester towards the end of its industrial heritage. Part of a family that grew up in the industrial revolution of the Lancashire cotton mills he would sit for hours listening to his great grandparents and aunts talk about the harsh life and conditions of industrial England. This is where his love of history developed. Whilst still a young boy the family moved to the fringes of the English Lake District, which he considers ‘home’. After a time serving in the Royal Air Force he developed a love for world travel, visiting many places around the globe.

“I consider myself to have been lucky in life, being able to travel and meet people from different countries and rich cultures but nothing compares to the joy of travelling the Lake District and sharing it with the people I meet.”

I moved to the Lake District eight years ago having spent the previous decade working as a tour leader overseas.  I can’t think of a better place in the world to live and work.  The National Park is a beautiful area with ever changing scenery, depending on the weather and the season.  I love driving visitors around, showing off this fantastic place that I am lucky enough to call home and telling them the history, traditions and stories of what they are seeing.

When not driving a Mountain Goat bus I can found hiking with my two Labrador dogs on the fells enjoying the scenery and the weather in a different way.
