This is The Mountain Goat’s famous High Adventure Tour travelling over the Wrynose and Hardknott Passes from Langdale to Eskdale. Complimentary coffee and biscuits are served at the top of Wrynose. After traversing the passes we stop at the Roman Fort, 1,000 ft, up on the fells. You have the opportunity to walk through the fort and see the fantastic view to Upper Eskdale, Scafell and Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountains. We take a ride on the miniature Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, before a lunch stop at one of the valley inns. In the afternoon we drive to Wastwater, Britain’s favourite view, and take in the views up into Wasdale and across the lake to the famous 1,500 foot screes. From here we head north over Cold Fell, passing, in the distance, Ennerdale Water and alongside Loweswater, through the Lorton Valley and over Whinlatter Pass to the visitor centre for a refreshment stop and a look out for the red squirrels.
On our journey back to Windermere we see Bassenthwaite Lake and pass by Thirlmere, Grasmere and Rydal Water.
