The Daily Tours summer touring programme kicks off on Saturday 3 April this year.  Join us on a journey through beautiful Lakeland.  We can take you "off the beaten track" or if you prefer, to some of those special places made famous by the area's literary heritage.  We'll even take you to the Yorkshire Dales!

 Beatrix Potter Lakeland www.beatrix-potter-lakeland.com

Beatrix Potter is intimately associated with the Lake District, the area that not only inspired her to write many of her little tales so beloved by generations of children, but also the area she made her home, farmedand sought to preserve. Spectacular mountain scenery, beautiful lakes, cascading waterfalls are all waiting to be discovered. Follow in Beatrix Potter’s footsteps by visiting Hilltop, her home and garden, admire her original artwork, learn about her work as an environmentalist and benefactor of the National Trust. Mountain Goat offers two daily guided sightseeing tours dedicated to Beatrix Potter. The tours visit places associated with Beatrix Potter’s famous little tales, her farms and properties and also include locations featured in the acclaimed “Miss Potter” movie starring Renée Zellweger. Both tours include a 40 minute stop over at Hilltop, Beatrix Potter’s famous farmhouse home in the village of Near Sawrey. The farmhouse contains many of Beatrix Potter’s personal possessions and remains much as it was when she owned the property. The traditional cottage garden is easily recognized as that featured in the “Tale of Tom Kitten” and many of her other stories.

Britains Favourite View

Wastwater was voted as Britains Favourite View by the public on ITV's programme broadcast on Sunday 9th September. Mountain Goat have been running tours to Wastwater for over thirty years and still do! Just imagine in that time how many people have been introduced to the dramatic secenery of Wasdale and Wastwater by a Mountain Goat Guide!

The view was nominated by Sally Whittaker of Coronation Street. "This landscape has fired up the imaginations of painters, poets and climbers. And it's not lost any of its power to surprise, charm and thrill us today. I have been coming here for near on twenty years now with my family... and it holds dear memories for me," she said.

Tour C - High Mountain Passes Spectacular - The High Adventure

As always we continue to support the Lake District Tourism and Conservation Partnership. Mountain Goat are Members of the Partnership and are busy fundraising to help support an ongoing restoration project at Holehird Gardens in Windermere, involving enhancements to the extensive 'walled garden' area.  The garden is home to a huge diversity of plants including several collections of National importance.  Customers may make a donation in the office or have the opportunity to donate when booking holidays.

We are glad to have our full complement of knowledgeable and experienced driver/guides onboard again this year.  We are also pleased to welcome some new faces to our driving team.  Whether you are taking a day tour, shuttle bus or one of our holidays, our driver/guides will be more than happy to assist you on your journey.
