Tuesday
Our full day today takes us inland towards
Kirkby Moorside, and on our way we visit a
most beautiful minster tucked away in a tiny
valley. From Kirkby we make our way to
Lastingham for a stop to view the church with
its 800 year old crypt. Our next call is to the
famous Quaker village of Hutton le Hole where
we stop for lunch. From here we cross Rosedale
Moor with spectacular views in all directions as
we make our way slowly back to Scarborough.
Wednesday
Leaving Scarborough we make for the market
town of Helmsley where you have the
opportunity of visiting the Castle or the Walled
Garden or just wander around this gorgeous
small town. We have lunch here before making
our way to Rievaulx Abbey and Terraces. Our
day out continues to Sutton Bank and Kilburn,
then Byland Abbey as we make our way back to
our hotel.
Thursday
Our first stop today is Pickering where we board
the North Yorks Moors Railway for the journey
to Goathland of “Heartbeat” fame. Here
you are
met by The Goat, but have plenty of time to
explore this famous village and find the places
in the TV series. Our journey continues over the
moors, where larger vehicles cannot go, for an
afternoon stop, before we head back to
Scarborough.
Friday
A relaxing morning, before a later than usual
start and we make our way to Whitby for a
lunchtime stop and to explore this very famous
port. In the afternoon we drive to the cliff top
to see Whitby Abbey before making our way to
Robin Hoods Bay. We return to Scarborough by
a quiet coast road.
Saturday
We transfer you to York for your journey home,
or provide you with a taxi to Scarborough Rail
or Coach Station.
