Windermere in Spring and Summer at the Lindeth Howe


This is a seven night holiday commencing any Saturday from the end of March to the end of October

Hotel Information
Lindeth Howe is a tranquil retreat set in six acres of beautiful grounds and was once owned by one of Lakeland's most famous inhabitants - Beatrix Potter. We are sure that you will find the accommodation comfortable and the food to your taste. Views over the lake and to the fells are spectacular whatever time of year. Location: Lindeth Howe is situated on Longtail Hill, one mile south of Bowness on Windermere. Facilities: All rooms are finished to a high standard with en-suite facilities, colour TV, radio, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee welcome trays and hair dryer.

Price Includes
Return transfers from Windermere Rail Station or Coach Stop to your hotel. Five day site seeing programme. Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel - some single rooms with no supplement. £17.50 per night supplement for single occupancy of a double room. Welcome pack including itinerary details. Freedom of the Lake ticket for Windermere. Entrance to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.

Additional Comments:
For a group of six or more we will collect you from the home of the lead name on the booking form up to a distance of 125 miles from Windermere FREE of charge. Above that distance a charge of £25 per person will be made.
For operational reasons it may be necessary to alter the itinerary days. On some Fridays the tour may be The Pendle Witches

Tour Itinerary:

Sat
On your arrival at either Oxenholme or Windermere Railway Stations or Windermere Coach Stop we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Sun
A free day to take it easy with a wander around Bowness familiarising yourself with this beautiful area. We give you a Freedom of the Lake Ticket which allows you unlimited travel on Windermere. You also have an entry ticket to The World of Beatrix Potter Exhibition in Bowness.

Mon
Our Classic tour, "The High Adventure", crossing the high passes, of Wrynose and Hardknott to Eskdale. Weather permitting you can walk to the 2000 year old Roman fort high in the hills. Lunch is at Boot, before taking a ride on La'al Ratty, the famous narrow gauge railway. We drive to the dramatic Wastwater with its 2000ft screes, before making our way to the Owl Centre and gardens of Muncaster Castle.

Tue
Our full day tour takes us over Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater for a Lake Cruise. Following this we make our way to Castlerigg Stone Circle, 4000 years old and set in a magnificent position overlooking Keswick and Derwentwater. We stop in Keswick for lunch and in the afternoon we drive to Surprise View, Ashness Bridge before making our way through Borrowdale and over Honister Pass to Buttermere. Our return to Windermere is by way of Newlands Pass, Thirlmere and Grasmere.

Wed
A full day tour to the Yorkshire Dales, including Wenslydale, Swaledale, Dentdale and the market towns of Hawes and Reeth.

Thu
Today we start with a cruise on Windermere to Lakeside and the drive to Holker Hall, home of the Cavendish family. This is a magnificent home with spectacular gardens. After lunch we continue to the monastic village of Cartmel and have the opportunity of visiting the Priory as well as exploring this fascinating village. Our drive back to Windermere is via the damson valleys - Lyth Valley and Winster Valley. A wonderful day out exploring the quiter parts of the southern Lake District.

Fri
The final tour of your holiday takes you to the Eastern Lakes with a cruise on Ullswater and a visit to Martindale, Askham, Haweswater and tranquil Shap Abbey.

Sat
We transfer you to your departure point in Windermere or Oxenholme Rail Station or Windermere Coach stop.
