This is a full day tour to some of the remotest parts of the Lake District. We cross over the Kirkstone Pass as we head to Glenridding to catch the boat to Howtown on the other side of Ullswater. Your driver meets you and takes you to Martindale to see the 800 year old church nestling under the fells. We drive past Fusedale up to Pooley Bridge for a lunch stop. From here we go to Askham, a very old moorland village, set near Lowther Park where we can see the façade of Lowther Castle, the ancestral home of the Earls of Lonsdale. Before going to Haweswater our drive takes us through the remote Lowther Valley, a famous horse breeding area in the days of the Border Reivers. Haweswater has to be the remotest lake in the area set under the eastern fells. We drive right to the top of the valley, before making our way to Shap Abbey, home of the White monks. Our last stop is the village of Orton before driving over Shap Summit and making our way back to Windermere.
Price Includes: Cruise on Ullswater
