The Lake District does not only host some of the UK's most breathtaking scenery, but it is also steeped in history and has some of the greatest literary associations to be found anywhere.

Here at Mountain Goat, we have been touring the Lake District fells since 1972, we have a variety of award-winning guided tours that reach every corner of the National Park. 

Our day tours depart from Ambleside, Bowness, Grasmere, Kendal, Keswick and Windermere and we also offer a Private Hire service from any location in the UK. We also offer tours to Hadrian’s Wall and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Categorized as the Lakes or Lakeland, the famous mountainous region in the Northwest of England is a popular holiday destination.

Renowned for its picturesque lakes, forests, and mountains the Lake District is home to many famous historical figures, writers, and poets. Established in 1951 the National Park covers 2,362 square kilometres.

In 2017 the park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site reinforcing its cultural and historical importance. Located in the heart of Cumbria, the land within the National Park is higher than 3,000 feet above sea level.

The park also contains the deepest bodies of water, Wast Water and Windermere, as well as the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike.
